This year, the Nation Funathlon presents its first EVER Virtual Funathlon on November 21 and 22.

Walk, run or ride the 5K distance as an individual or with a team. Submit your photos and videos via email to marketing@nationnews.com to have them uploaded on the Nation’s Facebook feed and on the Funathlon website!

Theme: An Active Nation for Better Health.

Proceeds from this year’s event will benefit the Barbados Diabetes Foundation and the Diabetes Association of Barbados to aid in their mission of supporting individuals living with diabetes.

Registration: Adults Bds $25.00 | Children 16 y.o. & under Bds $15.00

This year Barbados celebrates it 54th Anniversary of Independence with a Salute to the Nation Parade and a National Independence Awards Ceremony.

The presentation of National Independence Awards will performed be by Governor General Dame Sandra Mason. The presentation will be held at the National Heroes Square on Monday, November 30, beginning at 8:00 a.m.

The Barbados Regiment will provide the Guard of Honour, while the other troops on Parade will be the Flag Orderlies and the Massed Band of the Royal Barbados Police Force and the Barbados Defence Force.

Prime Minister The Hon. Mia Amor Mottley will deliver a Message to the Nation.

Also in attendance will be Chief Justice Patterson Cheltenham; Leader of the Opposition, Joseph Atherley; National Hero The Right Excellent Sir Garfield Sobers; Commissioner of Police Tyrone Griffith; Chief of Staff of the BDF, Colonel Glyne Grannum, National Independence Awardees and specially invited guests.

Barbados Canadian Association of Calgary presents a virtual concert  celebrating Barbados’ Independence entitled A Touch of Bim on Friday November 27th!

You can expect entertainment from RPB, Edwin Yearwood, Lil Rick, Biggie Rick, TC, HypaSounds, Fadda Fox, Lead Pipe & Saddis, Marzville, Marvay, Holla Bak, Nikita and Dj Puffy. All backed by the Session Squad Project Band. Your host for the night are Barrie Hype and Faith Callender.
