Event Description

The Central Bank of Barbados is hosting an Exhibition in its Exchange Interactive Centre, entitled Caribbean Ties, Connected People Then and Now.

This is an interactive exhibition highlighting the connections and contributions made by the Amerindians within the Caribbean.

This exhibition was developed between NEXUS1492 and local Caribbean partners and translated into six languages: Spanish, French, Papiamento, Guadeloupian Creole, Dutch, and English.

Exhibition runs until Oct 31st.

Opening Hours: Mon-Sat 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The NEXUS1492 Project is intended to shed new light on the colonisation of the Caribbean, the nexus of interactions between the New and Old World. The aim of NEXUS 1492 is to re-write the history of the colonisation processes from the indigenous Caribbean perspective, using an innovative and multidisciplinary approach. Using evidence from material culture, human remains and landscape development, NEXUS 1492 retraces cultural interactions between indigenous Caribbean populations, Europeans and – later – Africans.
