As the Barbados Poppy League commemorates its centennial anniversary, it stands as a testament to a century of dedication and commitment to supporting military veterans and their families. The League’s annual appeal represents a timeless tradition of honoring the fallen and recognizing the contributions of those who served.
With the Barbados Legion by its side, the Poppy League has persisted in its mission of providing essential support to ex-servicemen and women in their times of need. Together, they stand as a beacon of remembrance, gratitude, and compassion, ensuring that the sacrifices of the past are never forgotten and the legacy of service lives on.
Driven by the community of the Barbados Legion and the Poppy League, this exhibition explores the origins of the Poppy, the commitment of those who served in WW I and II, and subsequent conflicts, as well as those who have served in the Barbados Volunteer Force, the Barbados Regiment and the Barbados Defense Force.
After 100 years of the establishment of the Barbados Poppy League, its impact on remembrance and on the lives and livelihood of our military veterans is still publicly recognized and supported.
Many thanks are extended to the sponsors and donors of the exhibition.
