Under the patronage of the Most Honourable, Professor Eudine Barriteau, Pro Vice Chancellor & Principal of the Cave Hill Campus and Managing Director of RBC Royal Bank (Barbados) Ltd., Mr. Robert de Silva.

It will be an an elegant evening of smooth jazz featuring outstanding musicians, artists and fashion designers at the Walcott Warner Theatre, EBCCI from 7:00PM to 10:00PM.

Tickets are Bds$125 and all proceeds go to the UWI Hardship Fund, scholarships, UWI First Year Experience (FYE) Program and the Mental Health Fund.

Hike Barbados takes you through cane fields, gullies, tropical forests and coastal communities to explore the unique geological and social structure of Barbados.

Along the way you will meet new friends, enjoy healthy exercise and observe the delicate balance of the unique heritage and environment of Barbados.

To get to the starting point of the hike:
After Hothersal Turning, go through Bibby’s Lane (Highway E).
After Exchange, bear right (dangerous junction) just before Proutes and look for old factory chimney. Park in plantation yard.

Hike Times: 6:00 am and 5:30 pm

The hikes are FREE but donations are welcome towards the work of the Barbados National Trust (preserving our built and natural environment).

All morning hikes start at 6:00 a.m.
Afternoon hikes (Stop ‘n’ Stare only) start at 3:30 p.m.
The Moonlight Walks start at 5:30 p.m., you are advised to bring a torch to these walks.

There is a morning hike and, in addition, either an afternoon hike or a moonlight walk on every hike date EXCEPT the date of the Great Train Hike.

Place
All hikes start and finish at the meeting place.
There is a printed booklet with a calendar of the year’s hikes available from the National Trust at Wildey House, Wildey, St. Michael

Dress
Loose clothing, comfortable hiking boots/sports shoes, sunscreen, hat. Bring your camera and a bottle of water. Refreshments are on sale after the Hikes.

This is a Walking Tour of Barbados’ second largest town – Historic Speightstown.

Step into the past as you walk alongside historic churches, 17th century sugar warehouses and once grand homes of wealthy merchants. Come up close to well preserved Barbadian chattel houses and unique architecture.

Weekday tours start at 10:30 am on Mondays and Fridays, and usually last 1½ hours.

Sunset tours are available on Saturdays and start at 4:00 pm.

Coco Hill Forest is located on Richmond Road, St. Joseph. This 53-acre rainforest overlooking the East Coast of Barbados consists of Bamboo groves, hundreds of Royal Palms and tree ferns. Coco Hill Forest is being used as part of an Agroforest project. The aim of the project is to help create food security through permaculture and organic farming. Growing in the rainforest are coconuts, bananas, coffee, cocoa and pineapples and numerous tropical fruit trees, herbs and spices.

Open daily from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm. 

Entry fee: BDS $25 for a self-guided tour or walk.

Guided tours and hikes are done by appointment only.
