The University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus Department of History and Philosophy presents a special Photography Exhibition entitled Usakos - Photographs Beyond Ruins: The Old Location Albums, 1920s to 1960s.
The exhibition centres on three private photographic collections owned by four female residents of the small town in central Namibia called Usakos. The pictures were taken by African itinerant photographers between 1920-1970, whose work was considered to be part of an inclusive, cosmopolitan notion of community and African cultural production, collected in the personal albums of female residents.
The display will be in the Cave Hill Campus Sydney Martin Library.
Exhibition runs from 7 am - 7 pm daily, until Mar 30th.
Venue: University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus, Cave Hill, St Michael
