9th Annual European Film Festival 2017

The Delegation of the European Union to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean in collaboration with the European Union member states presents their annual European Film Festival.

Experience the drama, comedy, tragedy, and passion of the moving image alongside film fans, academics, students, and local expatriate communities at the 2017 edition of the European Film Festival (EFF).  This year's festival returns to the Olympus Theatres and premieres several new feature films from 24th-30th May 2017.

Admission to all EFF movies is Bds $6.

The real story of Angel Sanz-Briz, the Spanish Embassy diplomat in Budapest, who in 1944 acting on their own saved more than 5,000 Jews from the Holocaust. To get it granted them passports and visas stating that Sephardic Jews were entitled to Spanish nationality to be descendants of Sephardic Jews expelled by the Catholic Monarchs, although the 5,200 Jews whose life he saved, only about 200 were of Sephardic origin.

Synopsis:
The 13-year-old Iqbal is a charming, imaginative and fun boy, which, according to his father, is not enough if one is to succeed in the world. But when Iqbal, his little brother Tariq (11 years) and their friend Sille, accidentally blow up their school, his father is the slightest of his problems. The two crooks, Easelman and The Swine, want to get hold of the randomly home-brewed explosive and blow up Tivoli to build the biggest parking facility in Scandinavia. To blackmail the kids for the recipe the two crooks kidnap their adorable little brother Dindua (6 years). The hunt to free Dindua and save Tivoli starts - and this requires cooperation, courage and a lot of imaginative ideas, which Iqbal is an expert in delivering.

Synopsis:
Japanese student Norie Tsuruta travels to Latvia to study Suiti community where she meets one of the oldest Suiti women nicknamed Ruch. That changes her life forever and the close bond between them doesn't break even after the return to Japan. Norie wishes she had two bodies to be in both places at the same time. She thinks she has found her deceased grandma in Ruch while Ruch worries about Norie being "far out there" and trembles at every earthquake in Japan. Ruch and Norie prove us all there are no borders to a genuine human relationship filled with laughter, caring and love.
